First an explanation of speciation: speciation is not an animal giving birth to another species and it is not one animal transforming into another species. If such things were observed they would falsify evolution not prove it.
Speciation occurs when a single population splits into two (or more) populations, mutations build up in the now two populations - because there is little to no breeding between these populations these mutations remain in the individual populations and do not spread to the whole species. Over multiple generations the mutations build up to the point where if individuals from the two populations were to breed they could not produce fertile offspring, at that point they are separate species[1].
To repeat my self: you do not have to see something to know it has happened. Just as crimes can be solved by looking at the evidence and using the evidence to figure out what happened and who did it. However speciation has been observed.
Both in the lab and in nature speciation has been observed. Speciation has been observed in fruit flies in under laboratory conditions[2]. It has been observed in ring species like the Ensatina salamanders[3] and we have seen speciation in action; example: Blue Iindigobirds[4].
Speciation is an observed fact.
