Look at the world. How could all of that just come about by accident or chance?
Accident or chance its the same question.
The argument is mostly used against evolution. Its based on the misconception that evolution is just random chance. Its not of course. While random mutations play a big role in evolution its not all there is to it, there is natural selection which weeds out negative mutations and causes beneficial mutations to build up in the population.
It is also used on the universe as a whole. But again, it wasn't random chance that made the universe what it is today, it was the physics of the universe.
Why the physics of the universe is the way it is we don't know. There it could have been random chance. The Physics of the universe could have been determined by chance during the big bang but it may not be, we simply don't know.
If it was random chance that doesn't mean some deity had to make the universe. Improbable doesn't mean impossible. A good example is a lottery: A lottery where you have to pick five numbers 1 though 39 would have an odd of getting all the number right of 1 in 575,757 (or a 0.00017 chance of winning). The odds make winning improbable but people win. How? If the odds are 1 in 100 and you play a thousand times you will on average win ten times.
Simply stating that something happened by chance doesn't mean it can't happen on its own.
