I am wrong.

What am I wrong about? I don't know because I think I'm right but I do know that I am wrong about something, probably many things. How can I say that I'm wrong about something when I think I'm right about everything I believe? I'm human, a fallible human.

And you are wrong too. You don't know what your wrong about but your are wrong about something. Most likely you have not realised this as most have not.

This is something people have to realise. No matter how much you believe to be true it can be false, you can be wrong. You are fallible being, far more fallible than you may realise. You senses are fallible, your memory is fallible and your thinking is fallible.

A good example of this is the so called ghost hunters (not the tv show on the Scifi channel, they fake somethings and edit the footage in ways to make it look like things are happening when there not (see SAPS)) I mean "real" ghost hunters. They often use EMF detectors and assume that electromagnetic fields are evidence of ghosts. What they don't know (and easy to find out) is that electromagnetic files are everywhere, pipes, weirs, metal, all these can and do produce electromagnetic fields. Another thing ghost hunters often do it stay all night in a supposedly haunted place. First they are staying in a creepy area and second they are sleep deprived. Often late at night they start seeing things, well there sleep deprived in a creepy place. Both lack of sleep and creepy places effects people minds.

(Speaking of minds) memory is very fallible. Firstly every one has confirmation bias. Confirmation bias is a type of selective thinking where people notice  things that confirm there preconceptions, for instance the lunar effect (the belief that there is more crimes, births (and so on) during the full moon). For those who believe  in the lunar effect, if they have a hectic day during a full moon, they have a grater chance of noticing and remember the phase of the moon and what happened that day than during another phase of the moon.

Secondly memory's are not set in stone, they change, even seeing a picture can alter people memorys.

We are fallible beings, we are wrong about things. We must remember that. That's why we must be skeptics, don't just take things to be true but ask for evidence, look things up, think scientifically. Base your beliefs on the evidence not on what your parents thought you, what some book says, what some person in authority says, what your preconceptions are.

Hey, Lone Wolf, not sure if you caught Secrets of Psychics Revealed last week, I think it was on UPN, but it should be required viewing for EVERYONE. It showed how the John Edwards, Allison DuBois and Uri Gellers of the world are nothing more than, at best, charlatans and, at worst, vile con artists. If someone claims to be a psychic they are either delusional or are trying to deceive someone. So I ether pity them or loath them. And, yes, I HATE that ghost hunters show. People who believe in ghosts are very, very sad. And I never understand CHRISTIANS that believe in ghosts. How can you believe that your soul goes either to heaven or hell upon your death and yet believe there are ‘spirits’ trapped here on earth ‘haunting’ some old prison or sanitarium?

Lone Wolf, you have to check out what Papa had to say about atheists at http://bloviating.wordpress.com/2008/01/12/some-atheists-just-arent-very-honest/
but make sure you have an empty stomach first.

No I didn’t see Psychics Revealed, I’m glad to hear at least one program on TV debunking the so called psychics. Unfortunately its no where near enough to offset the damage done my Mantel and Oprah.

I seen what he said but I don’t feel like getting into argument right now.
